Commentary | Cervantes' portrait in an oval frame with garlands and a laurel wreath; it follows José del Castillo's model (Madrid: Ibarra, 1780).
Underneath, don Quixote and Dulcinea's portraits, a sword, a barber basin with feathers, a lance, a lyre, a trumpet, a flute and a Comedy mask; also, in an oval frame, a shepherdess reclining at a fountain with two sheeps and a dog (reference to La Galatea). Drawing and engraving are excellent and masterly. |
